Execution of Follow-on Investment (First Tranche) in OpenAI
SoftBank Group Corp. (“SBG”) today announced that, on April 1, 2026, it executed the follow-on investment (first tranche) of USD 10.0 billion (JPY 1,588.7 billion*1) (the “Follow-on Investment”) in OpenAI Group PBC via SoftBank Vision Fund 2, as part of the total USD 30.0 billion follow-on investments previously announced in “Follow-on Investments in OpenAI” dated February 27, 2026. SBG plans to complete the second and third tranches, each in the amount of USD 10.0 billion, on July 1, 2026 (Japan time) and October 1, 2026 (Japan time), respectively.
SBG made borrowings of USD 10.0 billion on April 1, 2026, under the bridge facility agreement announced in “Execution of Bridge Facility Agreement Primarily for the Follow-on Investments in OpenAI” dated March 27, 2026, to procure the funds required for the Follow-on Investment.
