SoftBank Group Corp. Selected as Component for Leading ESG Indexes FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Blossom Japan Index

SoftBank Group Corp.

SoftBank Group Corp. (“SBG”) announced today that it was selected as a component for inclusion into the FTSE4Good Index Series, a world-leading environmental, social and governance (ESG) index, and the FTSE Blossom Japan Index, an ESG index focused on Japan-based companies.

For investors around the world, ESG indexes are referred to as key criteria for assessing corporate ESG initiatives, which are essential to the sustainable and stable growth of both society and businesses. SBG has been selected as a company that is making outstanding efforts to strengthen ESG initiatives by addressing stakeholder expectations to achieve mid- to long-term growth with an emphasis on sustainability.

The FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Blossom Japan Index are comprised of companies selected by FTSE Russell, a global index leader that provides benchmarking, analytics and data solutions for investors worldwide. Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund, the world's largest public pension fund, has adopted the FTSE Blossom Japan Index as a benchmark for passive ESG investment management. The FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Blossom Japan Index are comprised of stocks that meet a variety of environmental, social, and governance evaluation criteria, and are used as a basis for investors who value corporate social responsibility and sustainability in their investment choices. Components in both indexes are revisited annually in accordance with FTSE Russell's evaluation results.

In order to further clarify the integration of ESG into the investment process of its investment business, SBG revised its ”Portfolio Company Governance and Investment Guidelines Policy” in May 2021. In addition to the criteria for corporate governance that Group companies should consider in a series of investment processes, the enhanced content specifies that the risks and opportunities arising from the environment and society are to be assessed.

Going forward, the SoftBank Group will continue to strengthen its ESG initiatives under the corporate philosophy "Information Revolution — Happiness for everyone," and aim to improve sustainability and corporate value.
