SoftBank Corp. (hereafter “SoftBank”) announces to receive support on TOMODACHI Summer 2013 SoftBank Leadership Program from Diixi Pte. Ltd. (hereafter “Diixi”) which provides innovative education services for youths who are eager to set up start-ups for aiming to achieve a global footprint. Diixi and SoftBank will cooperate on long-term educational programs aiming to help the participating high school students to develop global leadership skills and stimulate their willingness to engage in community services.
Fully funded by SoftBank, this program will send approximately 100 Japanese high school students from the disaster-affected prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima to the University of California, Berkeley from July 22 to August 12, 2013 for an intensive three-week course focused on global leadership development and community service.
As a first step of the long-term educational program by Diixi, special lectures to be held to provide participating students with opportunities to study methods and approaches for revitalizing their home communities at the end of the course from August 7 to August 9, 2013 (U.S. time). Through these lectures, students will learn how to come up with unconventional problem-solving plans, how to acquire the ability to execute ideas through actions, and turn them into specific activities after returning home.
Many participating students are willing to engage in the revitalization of their home communities. Diixi and SoftBank will provide not only a one-time opportunity to study in the U.S. but also long-term support for youths who challenge themselves to change the future and lead the reconstruction efforts.
