SoftBank Group Selected as Component for ESG Index “FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index”
SoftBank Group Corp. (“SBG”) announced today that it has been selected as a component for inclusion into the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index (“Index”). The Index is adopted as a passive investment benchmark for ESG investment by the General Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).
The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is constructed by FTSE Russell, a global index provider. The Index reflects the performance of Japanese companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in their respective sectors, and is designed to be sector-neutral.*1 Also, to promote the transition to a low carbon economy, companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions are included in the Index only if their improvement efforts are evaluated using the TPI Management Quality Score.*2
In addition, SBG remains to be included in FTSE Russell's FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Blossom Japan Index. Guided by its corporate philosophy of "Information Revolution—Happiness for everyone," the SoftBank Group will continue to strengthen its ESG initiatives with the aim of enhancing sustainability and corporate value.
