Tim Mackey Appointed Group Compliance Officer of SoftBank Group Corp.
Tokyo, Japan – September 10, 2020 – SoftBank Group Corp. (“SoftBank”) today announced that Tim Mackey, who has served as Deputy General Counsel at SoftBank since November 2018, has been appointed Group Compliance Officer of SoftBank.
Mr. Mackey is based in Tokyo and will report to Robert Townsend, Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President of SoftBank, and Chief Legal Officer of SoftBank Group International. In this role, Mr. Mackey will be responsible for overseeing SoftBank’s compliance function on a global basis and promoting the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct at SoftBank and its subsidiaries. Mr. Mackey’s appointment is subject to approval by SoftBank’s board of directors at its next meeting.

Mr. Mackey joined SoftBank Group’s head office in Tokyo in November 2018 as Deputy General Counsel, and for the past six months has also been serving as Head of the Compliance Department in Tokyo, as well as the Regional General Counsel of SoftBank Group International for the Japan, APAC and India regions. Prior to joining SoftBank, Mr. Mackey spent over thirteen years serving as an attorney for leading global law firms, including Paul Hastings LLP and Milbank LLP. Mr. Mackey has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese and English, and received his Bachelor of Laws (Honors) from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
